Trend Alert: Red lips

Maybe its just me? but recently I've been seeing the infamous red lip sweep across all of fashion and beauty with celebs being the first to start the re-trend, its like some kind of beauty virus that people have picked up, even I myself have dabbed in a bit of Red lip wearing over the holiday so far, but why red?

I think I can answer that question for you, Red lips are not only a classic staple in your makeup bag but they suite ANY skin tone and hair colour, whether your dark skinned or light skinned, blonde or brunette you can sport your very own shade of red from a dark ruby to a popping poppy colour.

However what I have also noticed is that there are some kind of unwritten rule for wearing this amazing colour on your lips, even though like I said before its a colour which suits everyone, bear in mind there are also very many shades of red to choose from and you have to find the right one for you. for example women with pinker tones to their skin will fair better with reds which are almost plum in tone, whilst women with a lighter/yellow skin tone fair better with far warmer coloured reds instead of a very bright colour which would wash them out. Also if you pick a colour red you love but feel your not comfortable enough to actually wear it blend it out on your lips, and maybe add a nude lipgloss to make it less overpowering.

I think anyone can wear a red lip its just having the confidence to do so, another good tip is to not go heavy on the eyes as well, this would look too much and make the makeup look too full on (unless that is what you want) but on a day to day basis this is a good tip. Don't forget to apply a similar coloured lip-liner beforehand as the colour tends to bleed because its so intense.

Travel Diary one: Cuba

Hello again, I'm back from Cuba! It was a fabulous holiday and definitely a destination I would recommend on a whole but it did have a few ups and downs (drama seems to follow me about everywhere!) a few personal things occurred on my holiday which I wont discuss but definitely made me want to just go home (thankfully it was at the end of the holiday so I was already home sick as it were)

Me and my family stayed in Varadero its located on the 'hook' of the island, where the Gulf of Mexico is, hence why the sea is so warm ( like an luke warm bath) when we were there we experienced a lot of thunder storms of a night time and even got caught on one on the beach one day which were just crazy considering that one minute it was scorching hot and sunny and the next it was like a torrential down pour well equipped with thunder and lightening. To be perfectly honest though it was such an amazing experience despite it being rain, and it cleared the air because it was often very very humid.

We visited Havana one day ( or as the locals call it La Habana) which was an eye opener because it is a very poor city despite it being their capital. However that doesn't take away from the fact that it was full of culture and history and someone where you just have to visit because its like going to France and not visiting Paris and the Eiffel tower! Our tour guide was very helpful and it was just a nice experience for us all.

Overall my holiday was very enjoyable and I would definitely go back there especially to buy some more Rum and Cigars, wow they do LOVE Rum its the base for EVERY cocktail...but it is LUSH!

Adios,

p.s my camera is currently packed away in my suitcase for holiday numero dos so I havn't been able to post any just yet, but I promise after Spain I will get my bottom in gear and post some! I might even be creative and do a little slide-show style video ;)
