My revision survival kit and Beauty tips

Being an A-level student I have entered the exam and revision zone, unfortunately for many of us this involves crying, eating lots of crap food and not actually learning anything because of the immense stress! However, recently I have come out with a sure fire way to get your head in gear and actually learn something for our up and coming all important exams!

1) Wake up early! whether this means on the weekend or when you're on study leave you need to make sure you wake up early so you can start your day right, if you wake up early (yes 9-10 o'clock is a fair time!) then you can get a lot done in the morning so you can have a break in the afternoon. You won't miss out on the all important morning programmes (there is such thing as catch up TV nowadays) and you can sit down with a cuppa at any time, trust me it pays off.

2) Make time for breakfast: start with a good hearty breakfast such as pancakes, porridge and mixed fruit or my favourite a good ol'bowl of Weetabix with banana slices. You won't regret taking some extra time for breakfast, study shows that a good hearty breakfast will stop you from over snacking during the day plus it will give you the energy you need to keep working into the early hours of the evening.

3) Put some clothes on: This sounds like a silly one, but many of us don't bother getting ready and remain in our PJ's all day, unfortunately this is not the motivation you need as it make you feel too comfortable and sluggish, not to mention you might smell a bit! After breakfast have a shower and slip into something like joggers and a baggy t-shirt you will feel refreshed and ready to take on your revision for the day.

4) Prepare yourself with some snacks: Make a box or bag of your favourite sweet and savoury things, then add a few bits of fruit too and you have your motivation for the day! When you're revising its hard to keep going if you have nothing to work towards, If you think of those delicious items waiting for you downstairs it will give you the motivation to carry on till your break, then go downstairs and grab anything from your goody bag and enjoy!

5) Take a break: Some people like to carry on until the end of the day with no breaks in between, that's fine if you learn like that but personally I feel it is really bad for you if you coop yourself up in your room all day, I recommend taking a good break every now; perhaps time how long you revise for ( 30-45 mins) then take a 5 minute break after and grab a snack or a drink.

6) Go out and enjoy yourself: If you have been revising non-stop for 4 days it feels like a pain when you're come back to the same place , you start going crazy! Don't feel guilty as long as you have worked hard there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to take a few hours off, you've earned it! String a couple of friends together round yours, order some pizza and drinks, watch a couple of movies and relaxed; trust me its well deserved!

7) Plan in advance: I'm a very organised person, so when it comes to revision I often plan out the subjects I'm going to learn, its good to known what you have got for the day and allows you to prepare in advance. Make a timetable, colour it in a make it stand out! Not only will it look nice but it will be very helpful through out the day.

Extra beauty tips:

Even though we often don't want to add any extra things into our routine (all we want to think about is work, work, work when in revision mode) I think its always good to make yourself feel pretty and to feel good. Firstly when you wakeup I always feel so much better after washing my face, I just use the simple's moisturising face wash with a cotton pad and that freshens me up and makes me feel ready for the day! During one of your breaks, apply a face mask (make sure to do one that only takes 5 minutes and not 15!) wash it off after eating/drinking and your face feels light and rejuvenated! Lastly make sure to run yourself a bath, I always feel less stressed after having a nice warm bubble bath. Make yourself a drink, light some candles - sorted!

Good luck in any exams you may have and work hard
